What is an oil casing?

Oil casing is a kind of large-diameter pipe, which plays the role of fixing oil and gas well wall or well hole. The casing is inserted into the well and fixed with cement to prevent the hole from separating rock and hole collapse and to ensure the circulation of drilling mud for drilling and production.Different types of casing used in oil production: surface casing -- protecting the well from contamination by shallow water and gas -- supporting the wellhead and keeping the weight of the other layers of casing.Technical casing - separates different layers of pressure to allow drilling fluid to flow normally and protect production casing.- to facilitate the installation of anti-blowout devices, anti-leakage devices and liner in the drilling well.Reservoir casing - the removal of oil and gas from subsurface reservoirs.- used to protect drilling and to separate drilling mud into layers. The casing diameter is usually 114.3 mm to 508 mm.
